DAVID HILLMAN: Home

David and Guitars

THE NEXT SHOW: THURS AUGUST 14TH @ THE SKYLARK WITH PETE BUSH AND ALSO SPANISH FOR 100

Whether it’s a solo acoustic pub performance, a big club show with a full band, or in the studio, Seattle native David Hillman digs deep and lays down his furious concoction of traditional and extant styles, never forgetting that first and foremost, he is an entertainer. Rock, alt-country, blues, and jazz, all take turns in his repertoire of original songs. Employing slide guitars, upright bass, tasteful backing vocals, and drumbeats from just about any style, Hillman succeeds in squeezing a little something from almost every musical category.

On his debut solo release “Americana Hour”, he brings all of his tools and tricks into Stone Gossard’s Studio Litho. With the help of engineer/producer Floyd Reitsma (Audioslave, Supersuckers, The Long Winters) and a great group of talented friends, David puts together a record that traverses city and country, delta and plain. On this LP, Hillman borrows from the likes of Tom Waits, Jack White, John Lee Hooker, and the Beatles, putting his distinguishing stamp on richly orchestrated ballads, sparse stripped down rock numbers, and boisterous barroom romps. For fans of musicians who convincingly meddle with different genres, David Hillman is a must listen.

“This is a real Americana hour…sturdy, energetic, & bluesy…some tracks even find themselves between the musical styles we already know…David knows exactly what he is doing.” - InsurgentCountry.net
